This Privacy Policy explains what data the Comics AI iOS app (the "App") and this website handle, why, and what your choices are. Comics AI is built to be private by design: there are no accounts, and we never ask for your name, e-mail address or contact details.

1. Your anonymous identity

On first launch the App creates a random anonymous identifier (via Firebase Anonymous Authentication). This identifier contains no personal information - it is a random string that lets the App remember your credit balance and purchases without knowing who you are. It is kept in your device's secure Keychain so your balance survives app reinstalls on the same device. We cannot use it to identify you, contact you, or link you across devices.

2. What we store

Linked to that anonymous identifier, our backend (Google Firebase) stores only what the credit system needs to function:

• Credit ledger - your current balance, credits granted (welcome grant, subscription renewals, credit packs) and credits spent or refunded.
• Purchase records - for each qualifying purchase: the Apple transaction identifier, product identifier (e.g. "PRO Monthly"), purchase/renewal timestamps and the credits granted. These come from Apple's cryptographically signed receipts, which we verify server-side to prevent fraud. They contain no payment details and no identity information.
• Usage counters - aggregate numbers such as how many images were generated or failed and when the last generation happened. These help us size infrastructure, keep pricing honest and spot abuse.
• Generation records - a short-lived technical record per generation (a random request ID, its status and cost) that enables automatic refunds for failed generations and prevents double-charging. It does not include your prompt text or images.

We do not store your prompts, your photos, your sketches or your finished comics on our servers.

3. Prompts, photos & AI generation

When you generate a panel, the App sends your scene description and any attached references (a character portrait, a photo you chose, or your sketch/drawing) over an encrypted connection through our generation service to our AI infrastructure provider, which renders the image and returns it to your device. This content is used solely to produce your image: it is processed transiently, is not linked to any identity, and we do not use it to build profiles or to train AI models. Prompts pass automated content-safety filters.

4. What stays on your device

Your creative work lives locally: comic pages, books, the editor's auto-saved session, your custom characters (including any photos you used to create them), prompt history and app settings are stored on your device only. Deleting the App deletes this local content.

5. Purchases & payments

All purchases happen through Apple's App Store using your Apple ID. Apple processes the payment; we never see your card number, billing address or Apple ID details. We receive only Apple's signed transaction receipt (see section 2) so we can credit your balance. Refunds are handled by Apple; if a purchase is refunded, the matching credits are removed from your balance.

6. Where data is processed

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions - Google Cloud, primarily United States data centers): anonymous identity and the records in section 2.
• AI infrastructure provider: transient processing of generation requests (section 3).
• Apple iCloud/CloudKit: delivery of app configuration values (for example the minimum supported app version). No personal data is stored there.

7. Children

Comics AI is rated 12+ on the App Store and is not directed at children under 13. Because the App collects no names, e-mail addresses or other personal identifiers from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents: generations pass content filters, and creations stay on the device - we still recommend the App is used with your involvement for younger comic makers.

8. Retention & deletion

The records in section 2 are retained while your anonymous identity remains active, because they are your credit balance - deleting them would delete credits you may have paid for. Local content is deleted when you delete the App. If you want your server-side records (balance, purchase history, usage counters) erased, contact us at contact@comicsai.com and we will remove them; note that erased credits cannot be restored afterwards.

9. Security

All network traffic uses TLS encryption. The AI provider's API keys never ship inside the App - generation runs through our secured server, and database rules restrict every record to the anonymous identity that owns it. Purchase grants are verified against Apple's signed receipts server-side.

10. This website

comicsai.com serves static pages and does not set tracking cookies or run third-party advertising. Standard technical logs (IP address, requested page, user agent) may be kept briefly by our hosting provider for security and reliability.

11. Changes

If our data practices change, this policy will be updated and the date above revised. Material changes will be highlighted in the App or on this site.
